Day 4: Muzungus At The Market & Father Jude

Father Jude, Dad, and I went on a FUN adventure to the market today for the first time! When you are walking through this market it is very crowded and you are following one path! YES just how you’re picturing it! Well when two white Americans are walking through this BIG market you continuously here the Ugandan people gasping “Muzungus” which means White People! Everyone is so welcoming by waving at you or giving you a big smile! My cheeks hurt by the end of our celebrity walk through the market from smiling at all our new friends!!!! I LOVED IT!

Our main priority was to see these HUGE fish that Father and Sister were telling us about the night before at dinner. Sadly, we were out of luck finding those big fish.. instead we found some cat fish laying on a table. I was greatly admiring the “dead” fish when all of a sudden the cat fish started swimming on the table!! I’m not joking this cat fish was moving on the table! I screamed “its moving” father got a great laugh out of that!!

Walking back to the car now we see a wonderful lady selling and cooking some grasshoppers. Father and I continue to walk but then I hear my Dad yell to Father “Let’s buy some grasshoppers, I regret not trying them last time” right when he said that, I knew I was about to eat a grasshopper! So you would never guess. Father bought a whole bag of Grasshoppers for his friend Deacon Matt. We are very Thankful for the sisters who cooked some grasshoppers tonight with our dinner! We only ate 2 together then gave the rest to Father and the seminarians! When I handed the seminarians the bowl I said “I caught these myself” they all laughed super hard!

Oddly enough, I recommend you come to Uganda to try grasshopper!☺️
