Day 6: God is talking to us through his creations

Walking up to a school with 6 windows, 3 doors, and 5 chalk boards, I thought to myself what a cute small school for this outpost that we were visiting with Father Jude. My face was beaming with a smile while going through the 3 classrooms reading the chalkboards.

One specific chalk board stood out to me it read:

“Ways how God talks to people: Through dreams, Through the Bible, Through Visions, Through his Creations, Through Messages”

Little did I know this “cute” “small” school was going to change my whole day! My Dad asked the parishioner showing us around the school ”how many students and teachers do they have?” The man replied “200 students and 5 teachers.”Hearing those numbers our eyes got huge! Now that thought of a “cute” “small” school for this outpost went right out of my head! This is not cute!

This is SAD!

Why are 200 students grades Kindergarten through 4th sitting on a dirt floor from 8-5 Monday through Friday, while I am complaining about gas prices?

Why are 200 students and 5 teachers sharing 1 bathroom while I am complaining about waiting in line for a drink at Starbucks?

After personally meeting the people of the church, the school, and especially the head teacher I see HOPE! I don’t see a cute or sad building! I see a community that will welcome us back to help them grow their school for their students! I see parents, neighbors, and friends who want to see children strive in their education!

Thankfully they have God and us!
