Day 7: The Hard Questions

When a Ugandan seminarian asks you on the spot in front of 10 people..
“After being to Uganda 2 times, do you think you could live in Uganda for 2 months?”
Of course my response immediately was
“Yes, but I obviously need more clothes” As the United States material part of me came out! Then I proceeded on talking about finding foods that my stomach likes as I have figured that the Ugandan food is not my stomachs favorite!!
I then laid in bed that night thinking about that question over and over in my head. I am here for 10 days! I am now on day 7 which feels so short but is starting to get hard for me at the same time! I’m ready to eat a BIG hamburger from In & Out Burger! I’m ready to see my Mom, Sister, and Brothers faces on FaceTime or just hear their voices as I just miss them SO MUCH!
These small things are ZERO Worries to the people I have met here in Uganda! They have 10x worse worries than I have right now!
BUT the people I have met have showed me that I could live in Uganda for 2 months by waking up everyday serving God and serving his people! As I have spent the last 7 days with very many different people ranging from many ages each of them have made an impact on my life, just as much as they continue to tell us that we have made on theirs! The conversations I have had, the handshakes I have been greeted with, and the smiles I have received is the reason why I will continue to come back!
Love, Peyton
